Important Cobram ABVT Event Update

This is an important update ahead of the ABVT Cobram-Barooga Classic, 4-6 February 2022.

As a result of heavy rainfall in key areas, the Hume Weir is currently sitting at dangerously high levels of over 98% capacity. To alleviate this and mitigate risks to infrastructure, the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) are releasing large amounts of water downstream daily. As a result, Thompsons Beach has seen higher than usual water levels.

We have worked closely with council and relevant authorities to get this water release minimised to limit impact, however we will now only have 4 courts to play on.

Tournament format will be as follows:

Elite Division

There will be no qualifier. Top 16 teams will gain direct entry into this division based on their Seeding.

Men’s Elite Seeding

Women’s Elite Seedings

These matches will commence at 4:00pm as originally planned from Friday 4th February.

Challenger Division

We will be running Challenger Division 1 only for both Male (16 teams) and Female (14 teams). As all teams will be decided before the start of the tournament, these matches will now start at 8:00am sharp on Friday 4th February 2022. Unfortunately Challenger Division 2 will not be run as we simply do not have the court space.

Teams beyond this capacity cut-off will be placed on a waiting list in order of Seeding. Sincere apologies to teams that miss out, it is an unfortunate situation however it is completely out of our control considering the limited court space we are left with. The teams that do not get to participate, a full refund will be provided.

Please check the updated division lists to ensure you are aware of your situation.
