Volleyslam Update | Wednesday 12 March

Over the last week we have witnessed the severe impacts that Tropical Cyclone Alfred has had on the Gold Coast region, with large scale damage across beaches and the broader region.

Coolangatta Beach is due to host Volleyball Australia’s flagship beach volleyball festival ‘Volleyslam’ that brings together three national and one international event across 10 days.

Volleyball Australia (VA) is liaising with the City of Gold Coast to assess the extent of the damage and what will be required to restore the beach and surrounding area to be able to deliver a safe event for all spectators, fans and officials.

Multiple options are currently being considered in consultation with stakeholders, with the goal to let our fans and participants know as soon as possible.

While VA continues to work with local authorities as quickly as possible, our next event update will be made on or before Friday 14 March.

We thank everyone for their patience and extend our thoughts to those families impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
